A construction worker on the site of the new Music and Communication Building died early Thursday morning, University officials confirmed.
University spokesman Al Cubbage confirmed that the worker died after an accident around 7 a.m. The worker has been confirmed as Michael Kerr, a 57-year-old Indiana man, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott.
Cubbage said details regarding an investigation and when the site will reopen should be directed to the contractor on the project, Power Construction Company, based in Schaumburg, Ill.
Power Construction did not immediately return a call for comment.
“Northwestern extends its sympathy to his family and co-workers,” Cubbage said.
