Northwestern's tuition and room and board costs will both increase by 4 percent for the 2013-2014 school year, according to a statement released Thursday.
Tuition is set at $45,120 for next year, an almost $2,000 increase from this year. Room and board costs also rose to $13,862, an increase of about $500.
This 4 percent increase across the board is slightly steeper than the 1.7 percent inflation rate of 2012. The additional increase is meant to help fund a 6 percent increase in the amount of financial aid offered by the University, according to the release. The University will offer around $143 million to undergraduate students in need of financial aid.
