Mayfest officials announced Friday night the penultimate Dillo Day artist is one of our own, though dressed slightly classier: EDM artist Cashmere Cat.
But all ‘Cat jokes aside, the one-man producer has worked with the likes of Usher, Kid Ink and Ariana Grande, producing such hits as 2 Chainz’ “No Lie” and Kanye West’s “Wolves.” The 27-year-old Norwegian, whose real name is Magnus August Høiberg, is well-known for his particularly “genre-bending” music, a futuristic fusion of R&B, hip-hop and bass music.
The artist’s debut EP Mirror Maru was released in October 2012, the same month “No Lie” was ranked by VIBE music magazine as #1 on a list of “25 Awesome Genre-Benders of 2012.” He currently continues to have a hand in the music of influential artists, in addition to doing live performances at festivals, clubs and now Lakefills, too.
“Mayfest is thrilled to bring Cashmere Cat to Dillo Day this year, and expects his popular EDM sound to get everyone dancing as the sun sets on the Lakefill,” said a press release from Mayfest officials.
Dillo Day will occur next Saturday, May 21, featuring ScHoolBoy Q, Anderson .Paak and The Mowgli's.
