If you like orange soda, good burgers, and would give peas a chance, make your way to Pick-Staiger on Friday Jan. 27 to relive the '90s with Kenan Thompson, A&O Productions' winter comedian.
"We're really excited for this," said Communications senior Elsa Stahura, A&O's co-director of promotions and public relations. "It's sort of a nostalgic feel for all the students here."
The former Nickelodeon star will host a stand-up show at 7:30pm on Friday Jan. 27, followed by a Q&A session with the audience, during which students will be able to go on stage to ask Thompson questions.
"We take a lot of stock in what people say they want, which we love looking to our A&O polls for and, luckily, Kenan was in very high demand," said Weinberg senior Max Brawer, A&O speakers chair. "We know him from the very first shows we were ever allowed to watch, like All That, Kenan and Kel. We know him from the first movies we ever saw, first cult movies like Mighty Ducks and Heavyweights, and now there’s a whole new class of people who know him from the world’s most popular sketch show, SNL."
A&O hopes that Thompson will appeal to the '90s kid in all of us. "Booking Kenan reminds me that, when I showed up here freshman year, the things I brought to school in an attempt to make friends were Nickelodeon video tapes, a Good Burger DVD, and a Mighty Duck jersey," said Brawer. "I think that’s a testament to the staying power of the 1990s and also just the irony that it’s 2012 and people are still connecting over things like this.”
Tickets for the event will go on sale on Friday, Jan. 20 at 10:30am for $10. There is a limit of four tickets per Wildcard.
