It wasn’t all fuck and saw this week. Here’s the news that made our cut.
Former presidential candidate takes a shot at Student Senate
Watch the catfight! Former ASG presidential candidate Alessio Manti argued the next student body president should come from outside of ASG. Former president Neal Sales Griffin wrote 1800+ words back in the comments. Alessio responded. Choice Griffin quote: “This is disgusting.” Agree or disagree, it’s worth reading.
Accidental leak reveals B.o.B. to perform at Dillo Day
Some are dismayed that last summer’s radio sensation will probably headline Dillo Day almost a year after his songs faded into 2010. But this is one of the first times that the school scored a recently popular act (Nelly’s “Just a Dream” came out after he performed). An errant press agent may have shot Mayfest’s load two months early, but they still have two or three surprises in the bag. Let’s hope one of them isn’t Chaze.
“Understanding Bailey”
NUIntel returns to form with their best feature since starting up again. Damn, it’s good to have them back. Andrew Cho pens a revealing and informational dovetail of John Michael Bailey’s history and his own disillusionment with the Northwestern social scene. One of the commenters asked why he didn’t offer the story to NBN. Yeah, Andrew? Why didn’t you?
The fuck seen around the world
The media’s jackhammered this story way past the point of orgasm. Credit should go to the small and intense story that started it all. Rumors that a video exists are most intriguing. Would you have filmed? Because they’re not getting enough web traffic (sigh) read The Daily’s first thrust.
NUIT change password limits
The author of the fucksaw piece, Patrick Svitek, is apparently in charge of the “relevant to students” beat at the Daily. Following through on their promise to adopt a password schedule that won’t leave us with whiplash, Svitek reports that NUIT will require students to change their NetID password only once a year.
The Daily writes a story about their new Editor-in-Chief every two quarters. We’re not beholden to the same tradition, but let me say as a managing editor that it was a joy to serve under Nick Castele, one of the kindest and most capable human beings I have ever met. Next quarter Matt Connolly, who has dutifully carried this column every week, will take the helm. To the spring, to finals and to never seeing snow again…huzzah!
