The Keg of Evanston to close again
By

A tweet from the Northwestern Tips Twitter account today suggested that, once again, the Keg of Evanston will close.

Though a representative for The Keg could not be immediately reached for comment, Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl provided information.

"I am told their lease has not been renewed," Tisdahl said in an email.

The property at 810 Grove St. where The Keg resides is leased by Chicago Real Estate Resources, which lists the property as for rent as of early March. Michael A. Weaver, the CRER leasing broker for the property, could not definitively state The Keg's current leasing status due to "some moving parts," as stated in an email.

Tisdahl, who also serves as Liquor Commissioner for the City of Evanston's Liquor Control Review Board, revoked The Keg's liquor license in January 2012, prompting several student reactions.

The business, owned by Tom Migon, has since appealed the decision of the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, which ruled in May that Evanston would determine The Keg's status as a licensed establishment.

    More to come.
