SafeRide changes policy on rides to off-campus locations
By

Updated April 1, 8:22 p.m.: According to a SafeRide tweet and a petition on Change.org, SafeRide no longer gives rides from one off-campus location to another. Students can only get a ride if either the pick-up location or the destination is on campus.

The petition argues that the new policy goes against SafeRide’s purpose as “a service provided to members of the Northwestern community as a safe and free alternative to walking alone after dark.” It also argues that students should not be penalized for their choice to live off-campus.

The petition concludes with a request that SafeRide revoke this new policy, and that though SafeRide is attempting to increase efficiency, “we do not believe this is the right policy.”
