Residence Director in Residential Services Kristina Richards died, according to a message today from Patricia Telles-Irvin, Vice President for Student Affairs.

According to the message, Richards worked at Northwestern for a decade, overseeing both undergraduate and graduate residential areas. University officials received news of her death earlier today.

“Kristina had a passion for mediation and restorative justice, and she was a long time member of the Campus Coalition on Sexual Violence,” the message read. “She touched the lives of many students, community residents and staff members.”

As Residence Director for graduate housing, she worked with Seabury-Garrett, McManus and Englehart, according to the Northwestern website. She has previously worked as area coordinator for several undergraduate dorms including Slivka, ACCI, CCS, Lindgren, Goodrich, Foster House, Shepard, Jones, 1835 Hinman, Transfer/GREEN house and Sargent.

Richards also received training as a Safe Space Ally and a Transgender Ally from Northwestern. She was also trained as a mediator by both Northwestern and by the Association for Student Conduct Administration.

According to the message, her colleagues said she was interested in “working with others” and “establishing effective partnerships within the campus.”

The message encouraged students to reach out to CAPS for support. A memorial service will be held in the coming weeks.
