According to the Interfraternity Council (IFC), 166 men dropped bids on Tuesday night, a record number for the first day of recruitment.
In a reversal of policy from previous years, IFC declined to provide the number of dropped bids for individual houses. IFC does not keep track of how many total rushees attended recruitment events.
There are 15 fraternities recruiting new members, down from 16 last year. Chi Phi is not going through recruitment this year. Last year, 334 men joined fraternities during Rush Week; Zeta Beta Tau had the most pledges of any fraternity.
Fraternity recruitment events continue through Saturday, Jan. 9.
Sorority recruitment begins this Thursday, Jan. 7, and continues through Tuesday, Jan. 12.
