Wildcats benefit from same-day registration
Northwestern students participating in same-day voter registration during the Nov. 4 midterm elections helped Evanston achieve the highest number of same-day voters out of all 18 counties offering the service. Almost 430 people in Evanston took advantage of same-day registration which was piloted during this election, according to Evanston Now.
Henry Crown receives official dedication and ceremony
The expansion and renovation of the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion was officially celebrated on Nov. 6 with a dedication led by University President Morton Schapiro. Students, faculty, donors and other members of the community attended the ceremony. Attendees also celebrated the opening of a new sailing center. The University spent approximately $300,000 on new facilities and equipment at Henry Crown.

Evanston Police reported an increase in the use of counterfeit money at local businesses, according to the Chicago Tribune. Police say that smaller notes such as $20 bills are the most commonly counterfeited bills in the area.
Evanston publishes quarterly report on economic development
The city of Evanston released its third quarter economic report, detailing economic development within the city. According to the report, 12 new business opened and 69 new jobs were created from July to September. The city also helped place 504 young people in jobs at 14 of the city’s employers through the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program.
