Hey, the biggest Land of Lincoln related basketball news last night wasn’t NU actually winning a game! Nope, all eyes focused three hours south at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, where the school’s constantly-under-attack mascot Chief Illiniwek performed for the last time at the Fighting Illini – Michigan Wolverine game. I’m not posting this as an excuse to debate whether the school was right or wrong for removing the mascot based on it possibly offending Native Americans, but rather because it’s a cool video showing just how much the Chief brought the school together. It’s a great reminder of what college sports is supposed to be about.
