The Muslim Cultural Students Association is celebrating Islam Awareness Week with a variety of philanthropy and awareness events.
“We just want to show everyone that there is more to our religion that prayer,” said Atiya Haque, the MCSA philanthropy chair. There will be prayer at the Rock at some point during the week, but there will also be other events, including firesides at Allison Hall, a blood drive at Parkes Hall from 10am to 4pm today and free hot chocolate near the Rock every day.
Islam stresses helping the community and philanthropy, Haque said. MCSA is working with Habitat for Humanity with the hopes for building a house this year.
