Beyond Yeezianity: fictional pop culture religions
By , , ,

In the world of pop culture, musicians, television shows and films have gained followings that transcend normal fandom and reach almost-religious heights. Recently, Yeezianity was unveiled online as the “THE BEST CHURCH OF ALL TIME!!!!!” dedicated to the worship of Kanye West and the selfless lessons his music and life apparently teach the world. It even has its very own Golden Rule: "Create for others what you would have created for yourself." This religion shouldn’t come as a surprise – after all, he is a god.

Cults dedicated to artists are more common than people would think because of how many fans treat their favorite artists or actors as deities, despite how sane or insane that idolatry may actually be. Jimmy Buffet has his Parrotheads, the Insane Clown Posse have their juggalos and even The Big Lebowski has Dude-ism. These NBN writers imagined other religions inspired by pieces of pop culture that may not be too far behind The Church of Yeezus.
