President Bienen sent out an e-mail to Medill people this morning saying that Dean Lavine will stay on past 2009, when his 3.5 year appointment was initially to end. Bienen doesn’t say whether this next term has an end date, but he made some key points:
- Lavine (and us!) has set a “new standard for journalism and integrated marketing communications education in this country and globally.”
- He’s developed “new undergraduate and graduate curricula in record time.”
- He’s “helped lead the efforts to create Northwestern’s first school outside of Chicago”
- Also: Medill India?
I’m not quite sure why, but when I woke up this morning, stumbled to my computer and saw this in my inbox, I just laughed.
