The Northwestern women's tennis team remains tied for first in the Big Ten standings after playing Purdue and Indiana this weekend. The matches took place at the Combe Tennis Center within the Henry Crown Sports Pavillion.

The 'Cats then won every singles match. Redshirt sophomore Maddie Lipp was the first to win her game after swiftly defeating Krisztina Kapitany 6-3, 6-3. Larner won her game following Lipp. While Larner struggled to beat Nicole Robinson during her first game, she easily won the second game 6-0. The remaining matches were won by Northwestern, with the last game won by sophomore Alex Chatt after defeating Natalia Davila 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
The Wildcats kept up their winning streak by defeating Indiana 6-1 on Sunday. The doubles matches were intense and the 'Cats barely won the doubles point. While Rooney and Larner easily won their game 6-2, senior Alicia Barnett and junior Brooke Rischbieth lost theirs 4-6. Although the No. 1 pair were down 5-2 at one point, Chatt and Lipp went into a tiebreaker and won. The 'Cats then won five of the six singles games. Most of the games were heavily contested except for Lipp's match, a 6-2, 6-2 win against Sarah McLean. After winning the first set 6-3 against Stephanie Smith, Chatt was unable to secure the remaining two games, losing 6-1, 6-1.
The Wildcats' performance this weekend at Combe Tennis Center confirmed their place in the Big Ten Conference. The 'Cats travel to Penn State on Friday, and their last home match will be Friday, April 22.
