Episode 2: Sweet Freedom Fries
Ari Sillman, a Weinberg sophomore who has spent two summers working as a line cook at a French restaurant in the Berkshires in Massachusetts, shows you how make sweet potato fries from scratch.
- A sweet potato
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- A frying pan
- A baking sheet
Serves: 2
Peel an average sized sweet potato and cut off both ends. Cut the sweet potato in half and then proceed to cut each half lengthwise into 1/2 inch wide sticks. Coat fries in olive oil, salt and pepper then lay them out on a baking sheet and put into an oven at 350 degrees. Once the fries can pe pierced easily with a fork, remove them. Take a pan and fill it with enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan with about a 1/4 of an inch of oil. Turn the stove on to high and fry each fry until browned (approx 2-3 minutes). Remove from pan. Pat down with paper towel to remove the excess oil and proceed to eat.
