Mayfest has announced EDM artist TOKiMONSTA as the second Dillo Day Main Stage performer, joining Daniel Caesar.
California producer TOKiMONSTA, born Jennifer Lee, has collaborated with artists like Jessie Ware, Kelly Rowland, and 2016 Dillo performer Anderson .Paak. Her seven-year-long career has produced albums Midnight Menu (2010) and Half Shadows (2013), as well as mini-albums Desiderium and FOVERE in 2014 and 2017, respectively. She also worked on Gavin Turek’s 2015 album, You’re Invited.
TOKiMONSTA began working on her newest album, Lune Rouge, at the end of 2015, before she was diagnosed with Moyamoya. The rare neurovascular disease led to her having two major brain surgeries and intensive rehabilitation, but she finished the album, and it came out in October 2017.
“She's also interesting because she's a very versatile electronic act; she doesn't just fit into the box of ‘EDM,’” said Grant Pender, Mayfest co-director of concerts, in a press release. “Her repertoire contains everything from ambient/psychedelic tracks, to beats she's produced with hip hop artists, to more traditional pop/dance tracks.”
