You and I, we’re made of different substances.
You, the spray of the ocean tailing a boat
Refreshing and cooling and soothing to reddened skin.
And I, the salt in those molecules
Hardened and grainy and agitating to the touch.
You, the yellowed pages of a well-loved book,
One you have memorized for hours.
And I, the words on the pages
Meaningless without context, separated and alone.
Together, you provide the stability
And I provide the uncertainty.
Together, we are a structural abnormality,
But apart we live at the extremes.
