A natural gas leak at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday halted classes at the Technological Institute and forced some students to leave the building.
The building has since been cleared by the Evanston Fire Department for re-entry and no injuries have been reported.

outside of Tech, so there was a natural gas leak,” said Al Cubbage, vice president for university relations. “When the leak occurred there was a partial evacuation of Tech. Once that leak was
capped, then the evacuation was canceled.”
The Fire Department, University Police and the gas company NICOR arrived at the scene and the leak stopped at 2:49 p.m., Cubbage said. The building was then reopened. Cubbage said he didn’t know how many people were evacuated.
Weinberg freshman Peter Carlson was in Tech at the time.
“Somebody walked in and told us to leave the building through the back,” he said.
