The Northwestern Ski and Snowboard Club announced Sunday that its 2012 ski trip will be held at the Steamboat Ski Resort in Steamboat Springs, Colo. The resort, which boasts almost 3,000 acres of terrain and 165 trails of various lengths and difficulties, is located about 150 miles northwest of Denver.
The ski club is planning an excursion and a free concert as part of the Dec. 15-21 trip.
"We all just fell in love with Steamboat...it's got a real distinct character and a rustic charm, being way up in the mountains," said Medill senior Emily Arbuckle, the club's president. "It has a Western atmosphere that's perfect for college students." Arbuckle and other club leaders spent more than six months looking at different locations before announcing Steamboat as the final decision.
Tickets for Ski Trip are on sale from Norris Box Office starting Monday.
