Sisters of the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha painted the Rock on Friday to advertise their annual spring philanthropy, "Light the Way," a candle-lit march and vigil set held Sunday. As part of the fundraiser, ZTA members set candles along Sheridan Road and sell pink wristbands to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, a breast cancer research organization.
"The event is to honor anyone who currently has breast cancer or is a survivor, and their families - it's just a way to raise awareness," said Communication sophomore Lauren Guiteras, who helped guard the Rock on Thursday. "This is an important cause to a lot of people on campus, so this is sort of a unifying force for anyone whose lives have been affected by breast cancer."
