Return of The Hood Internet
By

The Hood Internet will be playing at Norris Student Center Louis Room on May 8. The event is sponsored by One Voice and A&O Productions, and proceeds from the event will go to UNICEF.

After a successful show in the frat quad last October, rising mash-up artists The Hood Internet are returning to NU with their catchy Frankenstein creations. The Hood Internet, comprised of ABX (Aaron Brink) and STV SLV (Steve Reidell), have been making a name for themselves by mixing a wide array of music, gaining special notoriety for their innovative mash-ups of mainstream and underground hip-hop with indie rock.

As far as crowd-pleasing, these guys have something for everyone, with mixtapes featuring samples from across the board: T.I., Arcade Fire, Phil Collins, Hercules and Love Affair, Dan Deacon, Ghostface Killah, Cat Power, Andrew Bird, Kanye, and numerous others. Their collection is as eclectic as the sources from which they draw their samples, providing this Chicago duo with ample material for sufficiently-varied house shows.

In this short track, The Hood Internet mashes some epic bits from The Arcade Fire with a Montel Jordan track. The use of samples like those taken from Arcade Fire give The Hood Internet a creative edge over most other mash-up artists.

This mixtape gives a good impression for how versatile The Hood Internet can be with some bare-bones mixing transitioning to a more melodic sample-set around 2:55.
