Purple Haze's John Park makes American Idol Top 24
By

Weinberg Junior John Park will continue to sing on American Idol after being named to the show’s Top 24 tonight on Fox. The list comes one night earlier than the network had originally announced, leaving the folks at The Examiner wondering if it wasn’t an attempt by Fox to garner some viewers from NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics.

Some sites that follow Idol pegged Park as a long shot to move on, while industry heavy-weights like Entertainment Weekly have had high hopes for him all along. The Purple Haze singer has survived through a series of auditions and subsequent eliminations, including one of the show’s most dramatic in early stages – the trip to Hollywood — where 181 of the nation’s finest pop singers (for the ninth season and counting) squared off for one of the highly desired Top 24 slots.
