For Susannah Cunningham, the conflict in Sudan didn’t seem real until she studied in Cairo. The Communications senior heard two refugees arguing in a community center over what the most beautiful place in the world was .
“Both places were in Sudan,” Cunningham recalled. “They were both their home villages.”
At that moment she realized the impact of the war in Sudan had had on these two men.
“They weren’t in Cairo because they wanted to be there. They were in Cairo because they were forced out of their homes,” she said. “That just made everything real.”
