Both men’s and women’s tennis won their respective matches this past weekend. The men’s team swept the state of Michigan, dismantling Michigan State 6-1 and defeating Michigan 5-2, while the women’s team beat No. 75 Maryland 5-2 and took down Rutgers 6-1. Both men’s and women’s tennis are now 5-2 in the Big Ten.

Men’s ranked players No. 92 Sam Shropshire and No. 124 Strong Kirchheimer went undefeated in their match ups, and the Wildcats went 6-0 in their doubles matches.

In their win against Michigan State, a No. 69 ranked doubles squad of Alex Pasareanu and Shropshire brought down the 17th ranked doubles team in the country. The next day against Michigan, the same team of Pasareanu and Shropshire upset the No. 67 ranked Wolverine team of Alex Petrone and Michael Zhu. The men’s team is now 16-7 on the season.

During the women’s matches, Rheeya Doshi, Jillian Rooney and Brooke Rischbieth went undefeated over the weekend, and the ‘Cats won all of their doubles matchups. Although the matchup went unfinished, an unranked doubles team of Alicia Barnett and Erin Larner posted a 6-5 lead over Maryland's No. 62 ranked doubles team.

Despite having no ranked players or doubles teams, the Northwestern women’s team is ranked No. 21 in the country.
