Love the Sciences and Engineering Library? You won’t be able to sleep there just yet, as the university is only considering “the feasibility of creating a 24-hour Study Space” — but thanks to next year’s extended hours you will be able to stay glued to the library’s couches until 3 a.m.
That was just one of several student proposals Northwestern accepted this week. Besides the big changes — a test of Saturday shuttle service and a $200,000 winter speaker – the administration will make life more convenient next year if you’re more of a dorm-centered person, too. Along with the previously reported implementation of wireless internet, Northwestern “has allocated funds to enhance cell phone coverage in the residence halls.”
In other news, registration for Summer 2008 classes is on until June 21. According to The Daily Northwestern, some of the classes available include a class on murder in film and literature and one on developments in rap music. If you’re spending the summer in E-town, you might as well make it worth it.
NU’s African Drum and Dance Ensemble presents “Meditations on Africa” at 7 p.m. tonight at Norris’s McCormick Auditorium. According to the Facebook event, the show will be an interactive performance, using song and dance to tell “stories of the African diaspora, peoples of African descent both on and off of the Continent.”
