Dillo Day might be right around the corner, but Northwestern students never limit the Dillo-bration to only one day. There are tons of cool events – both Mayfest and not – leading up to the big day. Here’s our mini-calendar of some of the can’t-miss Dillo-fun pregames:
UCC Eberhard Beach Show – May 29
BAM! The Undergraduate Chemistry Council is hosting its annual Eberhard Beach Show and free BBQ the day before Dillo Day this year. The popular chemical light show (shit gets blown up) starts at sundown Friday, May 22 on North Beach, but students are invited to come early to eat and mingle.
APAC Powder Puff – May 23
The Asian Pacific American Coalition is holding its annual Powder Puff football game the week before Dillo Day. APAC sponsors the event as an outlet for Asian American females, in the hopes of battling the quiet and passive stereotype of Asian American women. Participating women each raise $50, with profits donated to charity.
Lovers & Madmen at the Rock – May 28, 29, 31
Lovers & Madmen, Northwestern’s resident Shakespearean theater troupe, will perform its annual Rock show in the days leading up to Dillo Day. This year, the group is performing Much Ado About Nothing.
