Northwestern enters its penultimate game of the regular season against Minnesota, looking to clinch its fourth straight bowl appearance. The 'Cats are winners of three straight, a winning streak that followed a five game losing streak earlier this season. With only two games remaining on the schedule - today against Minnesota and next Saturday against Michigan State - Northwestern's chance to earn a bowl bid hinges on getting a win.
The Gophers, meanwhile, have struggled in Jerry Kill's first year as head coach. Minnesota is only 2-8 this season, but is looking to build some momentum heading into next year. The Gophers do have a win over Iowa this season, as well as a close loss to the Spartans - so clearly Jerry Kill's squad is not a pushover.
