Letter: Cooperation, not competition
By

    To the editor:

I am writing concerning the Campus Language Connection article that was published on the North by Northwestern website Jan. 6. I would like to thank NBN for publishing a piece on CLC. As our name recognition grows, so does our group, and we are very exited about this opportunity to support and promote language learning at Northwestern. I would like to publicly correct a few inaccuracies, however. The article, while an accurate depiction of CLC in general, mischaracterized and misrepresented my sentiments about the university’s language departments, for which I have the highest regard and utmost respect.

CLC is not in competition with the language departments in any way. It is intended to be a non-academic asset to help students apply and reinforce what they have learned in class, and to complement the classroom experience with informal conversation beyond the classroom. I am indebted to the language departments, three of which I am taking classes in right now, and with which I continue to have very positive experiences. Thank you for providing the opportunity to correct this mischaracterization.
