Letter: Get support while grieving
By

    To our community,

This past week has been a very difficult one for our Northwestern family. Harsha’s death was the loss of a beloved member of our community, and though we celebrate his life, it is with great sadness that we face the reality of his absence here on campus.

We have seen a beautiful thing happen this week. The number of students who came together, whether it was for the search parties or to stand together in solidarity at the memorial service, reflects how deeply our community cares for one another. Whether or not we knew Harsha, we all felt the need to come together and support those who did, including both his family and his friends.

As the members of Students of AMF, we recognize just how powerful it is to have support during this difficult time. Grief is always a difficult emotion to deal with, and it never affects anyone the same way. We encourage anyone who is struggling with this devastating loss to find support somewhere here on campus. As the Wildcat family, we should be there for each other. There are resources available through CAPS, the Women’s Center, and the Chaplain’s Office. Our group, Students of AMF, also hosts peer-led grief support groups that are open to everyone. Please remember - we are one Northwestern, and no one is alone in their grief. If we open up and talk to one another, we can continue to support each other in the difficult weeks and months ahead of us.

Never before have Burgwell Howard’s words been more important. Take care of yourself, take care of each other, and take care of our community, Northwestern.

    Sincerely,

    Students of AMF at Northwestern
