On behalf of the Northwestern University student body, we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Harsha Maddula.
We are profoundly saddened by the loss of Harsha, a cherished member of our Northwestern community. The loss of a friend is always difficult. Please keep the family and friends of Harsha in your thoughts and prayers.
Tonight our community grieves our loss. Northwestern has and always will be a resilient community. The support from the student body over the past few days, including that of over 600 student volunteers searching and flyering with local law enforcement officials, is a testament to the deep compassion that Northwestern students feel for each other.
We encourage all students to take advantage of the resources provided by the University - including Counseling and Psychological Services, the Women's Center and the Chaplain’s Office - as we struggle to understand and comprehend the events that have transpired over the past week.
Consistent with the values of our Northwestern community, we ask that the campus media and all Northwestern students respect the privacy of Harsha's family and friends. Now, more than ever, they need our continued support.
It is during moments like these that the true strength of our Northwestern family shows. We are stronger together than we ever could be apart. We are one Northwestern.
Sincerely,
The Northwestern Associated Student Government
