Northwestern lacrosse (12-3, 4-0 B1G) won their seventh straight game Saturday, 17-13 over Penn State (9-5, 3-1 B1G).

The Wildcats started the game hot getting off to a 7-2 lead, but Penn State did a good job of keeping the game close despite trailing early. They cut the Northwestern lead to 9-7, but a Northwestern goal at the horn before halftime by Danita Stroup gave the Wildcats momentum going into the break. Northwestern scored in the first minute of the second half and kept Penn State from making a run.

The Wildcats win was powered by a versatile offensive attack. Five players scored multiple goals for Northwestern, making it very difficult for Penn State to focus on one star. Senior Sheila Nesselbush led the ‘Cats scoring four goals and two assists. Senior Selena Lasota also had a productive offensive day with two goals and two assists, placing her on the top 10 all-time scoring list at Northwestern with 211 career points.

Redshirt freshman Julie Krupnick had a good game in goal, finishing with 13 saves, including 10 in the first half to protect the Northwestern lead.

The Wildcats will try to continue their undefeated conference campaign April 21 at home Saturday against Rutgers (7-8, 1-3 B1G).
