North by Northwestern

Diwali, Bandi Chhor Divas, Tihar, Swanti, Deepavali – the festival of lights is known by a plethora of names all over South Asia. This Friday, students from SASA showcased the many different ways in which cultures all over the world celebrate this festival. The night began with presentations given by students from diverse cultural backgrounds, sharing personal stories about how they celebrate the festival of lights. Following the presentations, several dance groups from Northwestern – including Anubhav, Bhangra, Nithya, Raas, Deeva, and Brown Sugar – gave lively performances.
