The deadline to register to vote on Nov. 4 is this Tuesday, Oct. 7. If you’re not registered in Illinois, and you’re not registered anywhere else, read on to figure out how to get your information in before the deadline.
First, some criteria:
–You need to be at least an 18-year-old U.S. citizen.
–You also need to have lived in the state of Illinois for at least 30 days.
–You can’t be registered to vote in another state.
–You can’t be in jail.
If you satisfy all the above criteria, keep reading!
There are two ways to register in the state of Illinois – by mail or in-person.
First, you need to fill out an Illinois Voter Registration Application. You’ll need a copy of your driver’s license, personal ID card or your Wildcard. And you’ll need proof of your current residence – something like a utility bill, a bank statement or a paycheck.
Stick those three pieces of information in an envelope addressed as follows:

Alternatively, you can take those three pieces of paper to David Orr at the Cook County Clerk’s office on the 5th floor of the building at 69 West Washington Street in Chicago.
