Habitat for Humanity announces winter destination

Northwestern’s Habitat for Humanity chapter announced that their annual winter break trip will be to New Orleans. The excursion, which will last from Dec 15-23, is one of the group’s biggest events of the year.

“We went to New Orleans two years ago,” said Emily Hittner, chapter president and Weinberg senior. “Since then, people have been asking when we were going to go back.”

The destination was determined by a poll of current Northwestern Habitat volunteers. St. Tammany West, La., is the parish where the volunteers will conduct most of their building.

“I actually went on the New Orleans trip two years ago and I loved the trip and the people there,” Hittner said. “Everyone’s just so appreciative that we were coming all the way from Chicago to volunteer.”
