Engadget reported yesterday that members of AVS Forums went a little too crazy over the format war between HD DVD and Blu-ray. AVS forums closed some of their threads for a period of time after members tormented other members with “physical threats that have involved police and possible legal action.” Engadget cites that the recent price drop of Toshiba’s HD-A2 might have ignited some of the flames.
While I’ve been bashed and verbally abused on the internet for years, I’ve never had someone arrive at my door with a shotgun (knock on wood). It’s hard to fathom why anyone (especially those not even affiliated with either of the parent companies!) would want to mutilate someone over a damn disc. But hey, c’est la tech vie.
