Green Cup announced that Hobart House, Foster-Walker Complex, the Tau Delta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi and the Lambda chapter of Kappa Delta won its 2013 conservation competition today.

This year's Green Cup also participated in the Campus Conservation Nationals, which aimed "to reduce campus energy use by one gigawatt-hour" according to the Facilities Managment Green Cup webpage. The CCN kept running tallies of electricity and water consumption of all eligible Northwestern residence halls, fraternities and sororities with its own "dashboard."

In the non-dining residence halls, Hobart completed Green Cup with an overall savings of 875 kilowatt-hours and 35,936 gallons during the competition.

For the residence halls with dining options, Plex took first with a total 27,074 kilowatt-hours saved. However, the dorm increased water consumption by 60,194 gallons over the competition.

KD, sorority winner for the second year in a row, saved 34,959 gallons in February in addition to 1,173 kilowatt-hours. Fraternity AEPi completed the competition with 402 Kilowatt-hours and 2,142 gallons saved.

The competition, which had the support of the Office of Sustainability, the Division of Student Affairs and the Initiative on Sustainability & Energy at Northwestern, was first held in 2006.
