Get ready to rage. Billed as the biggest dance party NU has ever seen, this year’s A&O Ball will take place on Friday, April 15 at the Riviera Theater and will be headlined by Girl Talk, the experimental DJ known for his master mashups. Indie rock outfit The Walkmen will also be on hand as the opening act.

Stefanie Goliszewski, Communication senior and co-director of Promotions and Public Relations for A&O, said the combination of acts offers a nice balance between genres.

“The Walkmen are more of an indie rock band that are probably a little more unique to the common Northwestern student, and Girl Talk obviously has that mass appeal and promises a fun show for people to be involved in,” Goliszewski said.

A&O’s director of concerts, Weinberg junior Allison Zuzelo, said that the acts for this year’s concert were selected based on their strong live reputations and the diversity they offer from past A&O events.

“We sort of wanted to change the genre from Blowout, since it was a very heavily hip-hop show. We wanted to get away from that to make sure everyone was happy this year,” said Zuzelo, also noting A&O’s desire to build upon the dance tradition set by Passion Pit at last year’s Ball.

Tickets will go on sale April 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norris Box Office online. They will cost $10 for undergraduates and $15 for graduate students. Each person may purchase up to four tickets. Free busing will be provided to the venue beginning at 6 p.m. and departing from Cahn Auditorium and SPAC. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the music begins at 8 p.m.
