Face-off: What bugged you in your first week of classes?
By

Hey NU, what was your biggest annoyance during the first week of classes?

Walking. I have classes in all different places, so I have to walk back and forth. And the time between is not too long so I have to catch up. I haven’t used the shuttle yet, and I’m not a biker either. It’s my first year here, so I’m still trying to figure all this stuff out.”
    - Colin Lee, freshman
“Classes. Having to go. And freshmen. And the construction — it’s just tacky.”
    - Ben Melsky, senior
“I was annoyed by picking out my classes because a lot of them conflicted and I couldn’t get the ones I wanted, so taking classes I didn’t want to take got pretty annoying. That, and waking up to people throwing up and being taking away in ambulances and the alarm that went off at 4 in the morning in Allison.”
    - Katherine Reinoso, freshman
“The thing that annoyed me most was losing my wallet and not being able to get my debit card. On Freshman Urban Program, I lost my wallet on the El and I couldn’t get it back because the train left. And then during the first week of classes I lost my wallet again, also on the El. I got my debit card back in the mail. Then I was so excited to have money again that I typed in my old PIN three times and so they froze my account. So I’ve been without money for two weeks.”
    - Justin Gaines, freshman
“Quite honestly, the construction, because it blocked the most direct route between buildings and made me late to some of my classes. They were just lectures, but you don’t want to be late for your first days of class.”
    - Kate Piserchia, sophomore
