Northwestern access to Facebook has been restored.

    Update – 1:16 p.m.
“Our staff is currently working to identify and resolve the issue.”
    – NUIT director Wendy Woodward in an email to North by Northwestern.

Northwestern University Information Technology confirmed Thursday that users on the Northwestern network are unable to access or having difficulty accessing Facebook.com.

Attributing the connection error to “a problem with the network and IP addresses,” a service desk operator said the issue began sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. this morning.

The operator, who was not at liberty to reveal anything other than his first name, Matthew, asked for students’ patience and said NUIT was working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Students may access limited parts of their account by using a network proxy such as btunnel.com and vtunnel.com. They can also use an off-campus network.
