ESPN screws up...again
By

ESPN.com gets a Medill ‘F’ today in a story about Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson. Tank, you might remember, got into a little trouble when police found 500 rounds of ammunition and several illegal firearms at his house. His arrest in December violated his probation on previous weapons charges, and a judge had to grant him a waiver from his house arrest to fly to Miami for this Sunday’s Super Bowl.

Two days after Tank was arrested, his bodyguard, Willie B. Posey, was shot and killed at the Ice Bar nightclub on Chicago’s North Side. In a story posted earlier today, however, ESPN made a tiny factual error. The screenshot, for posterity:

James Posey plays for the NBA’s Miami Heat. He’s one of my least favorite players, mainly due to his reputation as a dirty player and his assault of Bulls superstar-in-the-making Luol Deng. But he’s definitely not dead.

(This isn’t the first time NBN has taken issue with ESPN content.)
