It was like any other Alabama news story, featuring an eyebrow-raising look into the projects for stand up interviews.
Yet, this video featured no Leprechaun flutes. Instead, it introduced us to Antoine Dodson. In the clip, the unprepared TV journalists stutter, but Dodson is livid about his sister’s attacker. Livid enough to spawn an internet meme.
But something like this could not simply stop there. The video was remixed by the Gregory Brothers for Auto-Tune the News, and became an even bigger hit. The remixed song was posted on iTunes and shot up to #25 on its top 100 chart (#3 on iTunes’s R&B/Soul chart), and even made it to #89 on the Billboard Hot 100.
And most recently, Dodson graced BET with his presence, performing at the BET Hip-Hop Awards Tuesday night with Michael Gregory (of Auto-Tune the News).
