Northwestern basketball coach Bill Carmody has a special connection to this year’s Dance Marathon cause.

“They’ve got a great thing with Dance Marathon,” Carmody said. “This year’s donation was a little special to me, as someone close to me has dealt with a heart defect.”

The team hosted kids from the Children’s Heart Foundation, this year’s DM cause two weeks ago. The CHF kids watched the end of practice, and then got to meet the players.

“It was a really good experience for us,” Carmody said. “It was really a two-way street – obviously the kids benefited but I think it was really great for our guys too.”

Carmody’s $1000 donation went to ZBT and DG, who got the most people to attend a recent home game. Carmody said he and some players planned to attend the Dance Marathon this weekend.
