Members of the Northwestern Rainbow Alliance, an LGBT advocacy group, painted the Rock Friday afternoon as part of an ongoing campaign for the introduction of gender-neutral bathrooms on campus. The group is circulating a petition encouraging the administration to consider leaving male or female labels off of more public restrooms.

“It’s really difficult for trans people to have to go in gendered bathrooms, and it breaks our hearts to see them have to deal with that,” said McCormick senior Cole Berhorst, treasurer of Rainbow Alliance. “It’s a basic human necessity to have a safe space to go to the bathroom, and we want to stand with our trans friends.” Below, pictures from their meeting.
