The Rock went technicolor on Monday morning to show the many shades of the Rainbow Alliance, Northwestern's main LGBT student group.
The paint job is meant to advertise "Rainbow Week," from Oct. 10-14, during which the Rainbow Alliance will be holding a different event every day, including a candlelight vigil at the Rock on Tuesday night in memory of recent teen suicides. The event is meant to raise awareness of the LGBT community on campus and provide an opportunity to speak out against anti-gay bullying in schools.
"With the prevalence of LGBT issues in the media, it's important to have a visible LGBT group on campus," said Communication junior Morgan Richardson, who helped guard the Rock for the Rainbow Alliance on Sunday night. "With the LGBT population being such a huge part of Northwestern, it deserves to have a voice just like any other group."
