1 + 1 = 2
By

    Today, at school
    You learned that 1 + 1 = 2.
    I was proud of you
And told you to continue to learn
Because if you try hard enough, you will achieve.

So I gave you two cupcakes for snack today
    Because 1 + 1 = 2.
You wanted to leave one for Daddy
    For when he finished work.

But I don’t want you to keep learning.
I don’t want you to know
The sprinkles that fill the evening sky
Are really just cold, cold worlds.

    I want you to believe
That the man who fell down yesterday
As he was helping Santa build
A marvelous, wondrous castle just for you
    Will get back up again.
Won’t leave it up to the king’s horses and men
Will try harder than Humpty Dumpty did.

Because anyone who tries hard enough can achieve.
    And Daddy will come home.

    1 + 1 = 2
    But now there’s only one.
