Saturday Night Live cast member and Northwestern alumnus Seth Meyers will serve as the Grand Marshal of Northwestern’s 2011 Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally on the night of Friday, Oct. 21. The ‘Cats will play, and presumably defeat, the Penn State Nittany Lions at the Homecoming game the following evening at Ryan Field.

Chicago improv comedy group The Second City will also perform their Northwestern-specific show, “Wildcat On A Hot Tin Roof” at the Theatre and Interpretation Center that Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The university holds alumni reunions the same weekend as Homecoming. Meyers (Speech ‘96) will celebrate his 15th reunion. Previous grand marshals include Stephen Colbert and “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” star Stephanie March.

Meyers is no stranger to Northwestern sports fandom, and tweets frequently about his loveforthe ‘Cats. He last appeared on campus during Wildcat Welcome Week in September 2009, when he performed stand-up for the incoming freshman class.
