A&O to bring CollegeHumor Live as part of Winter Speaker Series

A&O Productions will bring CollegeHumor Live to Cahn Auditorium on Thursday, Mar. 3 for their second winter speaker. Popular stars of the humor website will perform, including Amir Blumenfeld, Jeff Rubin, Streeter Seidell, Dan Gurewitch and stand-up comedian Anthony Jeselnik. Tickets are $10 and go on sale Monday, Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. through the Norris Box Office online and are limited to two per WildCARD.

Stefanie Goliszewski, co-director of A&O’s promotions and public relations, said the organization decided to bring CollegeHumor Live to campus after surveying the student body in January.

“One thing we found was that CollegeHumor came up really high in the poll, so that was our means for choosing them,” said Goliszewski, a Communication senior. “They were, like, one of the top ones for it, so we figured, by choosing them, it would be a good decision for the student body. It would be someone they like.”

With more than 10 million readers a month, CollegeHumor is the No. 1 comedy site on the Internet. The site features original videos and articles as well as user-submitted videos and pictures. Goliszewski said students will recognize the CollegeHumor name and be interested in seeing the site’s stars in person.

“It has a really strong brand recognition,” Goliszewski said. “People see CollegeHumor, they know it’s associated with the website, all the running jokes and the series they have within it.”

CollegeHumor is perhaps best known for its collection of videos, CollegeHumor Originals, which includes the popular series Jake and Amir and Prank War. CollegeHumor Originals poke fun at just about everything, from movies to music videos to awkward life moments.

“Everyone’s going to have something different they like about the site,” Goliszewski said. “We hope that, in the future, students can continue to follow people within CollegeHumor as individuals.”
