Grammy winner Cary Brothers (WCAS ‘95) will return to campus Oct. 21 to perform at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall as part of Homecoming Week, A&O announced today.

This will be the first time a major performance has been a part of the Homecoming festivities.

“We were looking to get an alum of Northwestern and Cary Brothers seemed like the great artist that came to mind,” Homecoming co-chair Stephanie Weinstein said. “He’s had incredible success and we thought his music appealed to both alums and current student.”

Brothers, who graduated Northwestern with an English degree, is best known for this song “Blue Eyes,” from the Grammy-winning Garden State soundtrack. While at Northwestern, Brothers befriended the film’s director and star, Zach Braff.

This fall, he is performing on tour with Sara Bareilles.

The performance is co-sponsored by A&O, the Homecoming Committee and the Northwestern Alumni Association.

“We think that this is what homecoming is all about: bringing alumni and students together to have a good time,” said Beth Lynk, another co-chair of the Homecoming Committee.

Tickets will be free for current students and available beginning Oct. 11. Alumni can purchase tickets beginning Oct. 4 for $20.
