Throughout the year, our Fresh Frosh columnists will be documenting their transitions from high school to college in a series of personal essays. Read a little more about them below, and click through to see their work.
Coby Argain | Jessica Floum |
I’m 19 and from Gaithersburg, Maryland. I graduated from Landon School in Bethesda. My interests include music, music production, writing, the Humanities and enjoying myself. I’m an amateur music journalist and curate a music blog along with three of my close friends called Bright & Shiny. Above all, I consider myself a hooligan and despise writing my own biographies. | I’m a freshman in Medill. I plan to major in either print/online journalism or magazine journalism, potentially with a double major in political science or history. But let’s not bore you. Coming from just outside of San Francisco, I’m a big fan of snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking and pretty much any other form of adventuring. I’ve bungee jumped in Costa Rica, repelled down waterfalls and undertaken a number of other semi-foolish exploits. If anyone is ever looking to check out something new, I’m up for it. |
Partick Svitek | Jessica Wang |
I’m an 18-year-old freshman from Fort Wayne, Ind., and any significant information about the Hoosier State’s second-largest city could easily be summarized before the upcoming period. I’ll be a freshman in the Medill School of Journalism pursuing its namesake major. However, they say journalism is dead. Well, they also said VHS tapes would be replaced by DVDs. | My name is Chieh-Jung Wang. No, don’t try to pronounce that; you can just call me Jessica. I grew up in Diamond Bar, second home to the world’s Asian population. I moved to Clovis and attended Buchanan High School, known for hosting California state championships of all sorts, where I fueled my interest in reading, writing, and avoiding the sciences. I will be majoring in English and perhaps also in Pre-Law. You can find me in Chapin Hall, where I’ll be tearin’ up the second floor with my…Friday night junk food parties. Characters welcome. |
